The Welcoming edition by Nora Roberts Literature Fiction eBooks

As I began reading this book, it felt familiar. I am a third of the way through, and I am sure that I have read this book before. But......the release date says October 2012 on Amazon. I don't think this is true. After getting on Nora Robert's web site, I didn't find any new releases with this book title at any time this year. I feel cheated. Now I know to check the authors web sites for new releases before spending my hard earned money on something I already read. Really dissapointed!!!

The Welcoming edition by Nora Roberts Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I was excited to see a "new Nora Roberts" with a publication date of 2012. I forgot dates are different than the actual book publishing date, which in this case was 2003. I still felt cheated especially since the book reads awkwardly now; the hero smokes and has to hoof it down to a pay phone to make a call. Shame on you Nora for not printing all your reprints in a distinctive cover and shame on you for not doing a better job for kindle book purchasers. Just give us a big old gold or silver border on all these reprints that we read years ago and sometimes get fooled into buying again. I buy A LOT of books for my and this is the first time I got fooled but shame on me too. I will certainly double-check next time I make a Nora Roberts purchase. I would skip this particular story, very stilted writing from one of my favorites.
Reader, be warned this is a reprint of a Harlequin romance written in 1989, and has all the earmarks of that era. It's short. The hero's "secret" past is revealed in the space of a couple of paragraphs and dispensed with fast in favor of the warmth and charm of the heroine's present life (as an innkeeper on an island off the coast of Washington State). The heroine is unrelievedly good, with not a fault, flaw, vice or any physical imperfection. She has golden hair and blue eyes, is an organized bundle of energy, and is universally beloved by all who know her. Love occurs at first sight, which is necessary considering how short the book is. Love is expressed within the timeframe of a single day (I counted, out of curiosity). Within a week, marriage is proposed. Naturally, the heroine is in some peril, from which the hero must save her. However, in a nod to the author's future trademark self-reliant heroines, she has a hand in saving herself. As with any Harlequin, love conquers all and there is a happy-ever-after in store for Charity and Roman. It isn't a bad book, but if you compare it to more recent stand-alones, it has practically no substance.
I have not even started this book and find it is a book I had read eons ago. shame on you as much as I've loved your books this is just not fair .since I'm a kindle user I do not think I can return it .if I could I would. from now on I will check copyright date BEFORE I buy ..I'm giving this a 1 you got a 1 for cheating

UGH!! They got me. I saw that it came out in 2012 and kind of wondered how I had missed it then, but hey, it happens. I got a sample on my iPad app and didn't recognize the story, although I wondered a bit that it had him smoking. So I bought it. Then I'm reading and she offers him $5 an hour. Okay, now I know I've been had. Sure enough, it was published much earlier than 2012. It took some digging to figure out, but this was originally published in 1989!!!!!! As a HARLEQUIN!!!! So now I'm annoyed. Really annoyed. I didn't read many of her Harlequins, so chances are I haven't read it, but it will be really dated, and probably not written as well. So I'm going to try to get my money back through . I'm not sure whose bright idea this originally was, to trick the readers, but clearly both Nora Roberts and agreed to it, so shame on both of them. So all that to say, I have no idea how good this book is or is not, because I WON'T be reading it!!!
I have been reading Nora Roberts since her "first" book, "Irish Thoroughbreads (I think!). I loved that, & mentioned to my husband that I would be watching her, to see if she would go as far as I thought she would!! She certainly did!!! While this book wasn't her usual 5 star quality, it was a fun book to read. I still re-read all her books over a 3 year rotation. And, the J.D.Robb "In Death" series every few years.

"WOW!" "The first time digitally available!" I almost "re"-bought it, until I read the intro paragraph! Since I had recently read (digitally, on my iPad, purchased in 2012) this same book, I realized this was simply a re-intro, which means everyone will get upset if they accidentally re-purchase it. So....let me tell you how to tell what's really "new" & what's not! For years Nora has put a dime size logo on each newly released book. This year's "new" book is "The Obsession ". If you look near the top of the cover, you can spot the letters (dime size, remember) "NR". This is how I keep from repurchasing the books I already have. I envy those of you who are newly aquainted with Nora Roberts as a writer. I've not read much of her writing that I would give lower than a 3 star review. & her newer books & J.D.Robb, are tops! HTH!!!
